Choosing a lamp seems like such an easy task. Go to the store and pick a lamp that works best with your office. Unfortunately, it is never quite this easy. There are few things to take into consideration such as how large the office is, do you need lighting for the entire office or just a section and of course the type of lamp? There are many to choose from, but a few styles seem to work best such as table lamps, floor lamps, and hanging & pendant lighting.

Table lamps are great for direct lighting where it is needed most. These can help light a dark part of your desk and give a look of elegance even. Table lamps are great too because they are easily moved and rearranged to as your needs may change.

However, floor lamps work best for dark corners of an office where there is need for more lighting in an entire section of the office. These are taller and can light up sections of an office quite nicely, especially when there is no other over head lighting available.

I’ve Realized I’m a Light Fanatic!

I’ve come to realize I can never have too many lighting fixtures in my home. I love looking for and buying lamps and lighting fixtures. Small lamps for desks and dressers, larger ones for corners of rooms, unique ones just add style to an area. I can never have too many and I’m always looking for more. I have a few that are only decorations, they are not plugged in nor are there any bulbs in them.

Few of my favorites are Tiffany style lamps. These are so beautiful and come in so many unique designs and styles. The colors are so bright and there are so many designs that can be found that will match any room. I like that they can take on so many different looks because of the pictures that are added to the glass and the different designs the bases come in.

The other style that I like includes the vintage floor lamps. I have many of these from all different eras and styles. The older the better going back to the 1920’s and 1930’s is what I look for. However, I’ve added a few to my daughters’ room that look like multicolored peg boards and came from around the 1960’s.

I have no idea what started my interest in lighting fixtures and lamps. However, I don’t think it’s a collection I will ever stop hunting for.
